Why use a Professional Photographer?
Sitting for an artist is passé. Photography has
made it possible have a portrait painted without the pain of posing.
Time and distance are no longer major factors. Natural expressions
are easy to capture on film. Photography is not only convenient but
the result can be greater than a portrait painted from life.
LaVon has been partnering with talented
photographers for over twenty years, and working from their image
makes her paintings better. Your ultimate painted image will be far
superior to a painting based on a favorite snapshot from a vacation or
party.
What is the difference between a Portrait
from a Photographer and an Oil Painting from LaVon?
Professional photographers are skilled in using
lighting, backgrounds, posing, and much more to create a portrait of
quality. Camera focal length, depth of field, and angle all enter
into the impact of the final image. The photographer’s art is in
capturing your personality in a split second onto a digital or
celluloid capture device. A machine then prints the final image on
paper stock. One or one thousand images can be repeated exactly the
same as the first. The talent of a fine image maker is inestimable.
What LaVon does is very different. Everything
is painted by the artist’s hand. Each oil portrait is one of a kind;
unique, because there will never be another one like it. After you
have chosen the best photographic image, a new creative process
begins. The likeness is carefully drawn. Creative changes are
visualized and sketched. Not in inks or dyes on paper like a photo
printer, but with the finest European oil pigments on portrait
canvas.
LaVon takes the photographic image and begins a
process of artistic alchemy. Getting to know her subject through
different avenues including intuition and a deep heartfelt
connection is important. Life experience, values, innocence or
wisdom all come together as the details are rendered on canvas.
Glazes of transparent oil over rich under painting and specular
highlights provide a dynamic intensity unrivalled in film images. A
photographic process takes less than an hour at a photo lab but
creating a museum quality master oil portrait takes weeks and
sometimes months on the largest commissions.
If you want the finest image money can buy, a
Masterpiece Portrait Painting by LaVon taken from the finest quality
photograph will provide generations of joy and satisfaction.
Is the Masterpiece affordable?
An exquisite portrait painting is the bargain
of a lifetime! Name anything else you can buy that will give you joy
every day of your life, that needs no maintenance, that will last
for hundreds of years and allow your children and their children to
enjoy their heritage in the classic form of fine art. A portrait
painting has value beyond price.
Although oil portraits are not within immediate
reach of everyone, they are worth adding to the budget and planning
for in the future. Prices begin at five thousand dollars and
range higher depending on the size and detail of the
individual painting. A fifty percent retainer secures the
commission. For those with an appreciation of art and history, an
oil painting by LaVon can be an affordable addition to their
lifestyle and legacy.
One Group Portrait or Single Portrait Paintings?
Paintings, unlike photographs, are more labor
intensive when more people are added. Each person in an oil portrait
usually costs fifty percent extra. Remember, it is twice the work to
paint an additional person. LaVon often recommends several portraits
created over the years for business or the family unless a large
budget is available. For families, this will give each child their
own inheritance to cherish and display with future portrait
paintings of their own family in a home of their own.
Couples, on the other hand, are sometimes
painted together. You will never be younger, and now is the best
time to make your portrait painting a reality. The portrait artist
can eliminate the negative and accentuate the positive with
believability.
How long does a painting take to complete?
When you or the photographer send your chosen
image to LaVon, it will be twelve to eighteen weeks before your
finished oil portrait painting is returned. Very large sizes may
take longer and seasonal demand may change delivery times.
Are Portrait Frames Available?
Yes. We strongly suggest that you purchase your
frame through Masterpiece Portrait Painting. Do not take the chance of
allowing someone else handle your precious artwork. Paint does not
cure for six months and the surface is delicate during that period.
Our fine frames are chosen to compliment each
individual painting. Gold and silver leaf on hardwoods or finely
finished woods, are extremely important to enhance the completed
work of art. Plan on spending up to twenty five percent of the price
of your painting on an elegant frame. You will receive your framed
painting complete with hardware and ready to mount on the wall.
Do you Guarantee Satisfaction?
Yes. Every Masterpiece Portrait Painting by
LaVon has a money back guarantee. You must be pleased! We guarantee
it.
